I’m Mandy Dunstone and I work in years 4, 5 and 6. I have noticed there is a progression between each of the different age ranges. Looking at the year 3’s. I was working with a group of those today on the Night Zookeeper project. They really able to explain using high level vocabulary. Then when I went to work with the year 4’s, their language was getting really quite descriptive. There were lots of adjectives and adverbs being used to describe the animals and stories they were creating, which is really exciting to see.
As the children created their work it really came to life. The children were really very excited about what they were learning and talking about.
I really love the fact that it is interactive using ICT. Especially when using an iPad as well, when it is just at the children’s fingertips! Drawing the pictures on the website makes it really come to life for the children. The children have gone through the levels really, really quickly. I had a go myself, but didn’t quite as far as they did. It keeps the children entertained for a long time and the fact that they see a storybook at the end of it with their own pictures inside of it, I think that is really quite exciting! To be able to work on the Night Zookeeper project has been a fantastic opportunity for the children here at our school.
